Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Asa ("the App"), operated by Vineward ("we", "us"), handles information when you use the App and choose to connect your Google account.

1. Information we access

Asa accesses information only with your consent, through Google's OAuth sign-in, and only for the Google services you authorize. Depending on the permissions you grant, this may include:

Your basic Google profile and email address, used to identify your account and associate it with your session.
Content within the specific Google services you choose to connect (for example, calendar entries you ask Asa to track), solely to perform the tasks you request.

We request the narrowest scopes necessary for the features you use, and no Google data the App does not need.

2. How we use information

We use the information above solely to provide the features you request — such as study assistance, drafting, and administrative tracking on your behalf. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it.

3. Pastoral confidentiality

Asa is built for ministry and is bound to strict confidentiality consistent with pastoral ethics. Sensitive pastoral and counseling information is kept in the smallest possible scope, is not embedded into shared indexes, is not disclosed to third parties or other users, and is not used to train AI models. Where the law requires disclosure (for example, mandatory reporting of abuse or an imminent threat to life), that legal obligation governs.

Limited Use disclosure. Asa's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not transfer or use Google user data to train generalized or foundational AI/ML models; we do not sell Google user data; and we do not use it for advertising.

4. AI processing

Asa uses language models to assist with study and drafting at your direction. Where fulfilling your request requires it, content may be processed transiently by trusted models to produce the output you asked for. Sensitive pastoral content is minimized or handled through trusted, private processing and is never used to train generalized AI models.

5. Sharing

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only:

with Google, as necessary to perform the actions you authorize through Google APIs;
with infrastructure and AI-model providers strictly as needed to operate the App, under confidentiality obligations; and
where required by law.

6. Retention and deletion

We retain access tokens and operational data only as long as needed to provide the service. You may revoke Asa's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page. To request deletion of data associated with your account, contact pastor@vineward.org and we will delete it within 30 days.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect information in transit and at rest, and restrict access to authorized systems and personnel. No method is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Children

Asa is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
